DMSAS Recognized with JUST 2.0 Label

David M. Schwarz Architects, Inc. (DMSAS) is proud to announce we have received a 2024 JUST 2.0 Label after an assessment of our commitment to social justice and equity. Created by the International Living Future Institute, JUST Labels are voluntary disclosures that require self-evaluation across the spectrum of equity measurements such as employee treatment and benefits, diversity and inclusion efforts, and community impact.

JUST 2.0 evaluations are rigorous and require evidence to prove we suit our actions to our words. DMSAS scored highly in Engagement metrics, as well as Training and Education, Healthcare, Gender Pay Equity and Charitable Giving. Our 2024 JUST 2.0 recognition is a continuation of DMSAS’ work to ensure that all employees are made to feel welcomed, valued, respected and heard.

“We began pursuing a JUST certification in 2020 during the George Floyd protests when several members of the younger staff wanted to help improve the office,” says DMSAS Architect and Equity Task Force Co-Chair George Fillion. “To guide us towards genuine improvement we decided to have a third party essentially audit the way we do things. This helped us quantitatively identify our current strengths and weaknesses and set goals to improve our scores, and therefore our workplace, for the future.”

DMSAS Principal Steve Knight responded to the news, saying: “I am very proud of the people in the office who came together in the summer of 2020 to create the Office Equity Task Force. They pushed us to make real improvements to our work culture, including pursuit of JUST 2.0 certification. The Equity Task Force’s leadership and our office’s receptivity to so much positive change show we care deeply about one another, which is fundamentally the most equitable thing we can do.”
