DMSAS coordinated the renovation of the historic Mellon Hall at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. Originally designed by the prominent California modernist Richard Neutra, the 18,000 SF design effort focuses on the circa 1956 building’s public spaces. These include the Conversation Room, a boardroom-like seminar space; the Living Room, a flexible lobby; the Fishbowl, a student lounge; and the Studio Theater, created from reclaimed space in the stagehouse of the historic auditorium. DMSAS is currently coordinating furniture and finish selections. DMSAS has closely adhered to the design standards prescribed by the Annapolis Historic District, preserving the modernist landmark for generations of future St. John’s College students.
