Rothschild College, directly adjacent to DMSAS’s recently completed Zeppos College at Vanderbilt University, will be home to 330 students and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022. The 205,000 SF building is organized around three courtyards, one of which is open to the public and part of a promenade that will link back to Alumni Lawn and E. Bronson Ingram College. A four story turreted gate marks the entry to the college from the west as the public promenade passes through. In addition to a Dining Room and Great Room, the college includes a cutting-edge active learning classroom and a 100-seat black box theater which will provide a flexible venue for student-focused artistic programming & rehearsals. The exterior uses a similar Collegiate Gothic architectural language to the other new colleges and historic campus core, but gains a unique identity through the use of horizontal banding and polychromatic brick patterns.
