The New York Botanical Garden is one of the world’s most prominent institutions in plant sciences, ecology and horticulture. The NYBG is home to a 5.6-million-specimen herbarium, a conservatory that is considered the most beautiful Victorian greenhouse in America. The goal of the six-year master plan is to restore and improve the Garden’s natural and built landscape and preserve the existing historic structures, to which we have added designs for a new library/herbarium, a restaurant, and a visitor’s center. The design objective has is to utilize siting, scale, and architectural character of each of these structures and the intervening landscape, to reinforce the Garden’s original design intent.
