DMSAS has been commissioned by the City of Spartanburg to design a new Joint County and City Government Center, a 200,000-square-foot civic building that will unify local government services under one roof. Located in the heart of downtown, the facility is envisioned as a true “one-stop shop” for residents—bringing together city and county offices, shared council chambers, public meeting spaces, and welcoming indoor and outdoor areas.
The design presents a modern interpretation of Spartanburg’s historic architecture, featuring traditional materials and detailing alongside a prominent clock tower envisioned to become new civic landmark. Designed for flexibility, longevity, and community engagement, the building aims to serve as both a functional government hub and a symbol of civic pride.
DMSAS is proud to partner with Spartanburg-based McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture on this transformative project. Design Development documentation has been submitted, with next phases progressing toward a planned groundbreaking in 2025.
