Douglas Johnson is the Chief Administrative Officer with David M Schwarz Architects, Inc. Douglas grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and has lived in Washington, DC since 1987 after graduating from Old Dominion University with a degree in finance. Prior to joining the firm, Douglas worked in the Department of Defense for 25 years.

Douglas provides internal and external coordination and management of all administrative activities related to the firm’s operations, including finance, accounting, human resources and marketing. He also participates in the development and implementation of activities related to the firm’s projects, mission and goals.

While being a finance and business type, Douglas has always been interested in architecture. So much so that he married an architect. Douglas and his husband, Brett, have been renovating and living in historic homes since they met over 30 years ago. At this point, they are not sure if it’s a passion or an addiction. Their recent projects include renovating a 1912 Beaux Arts townhouse where they reside in DC and a historic 1800’s house in South Georgia near where Brett grew up.
